Hello

For the past few years, I’ve been using this website as a portfolio and blog of the experience I gained throughout college.

Now I am a college graduate with an amazing contract position! I hope to be hired on full time for this company, but regardless I am excited about the experience I am gaining.

That being said, I’m not sure how often I will be updating this page. If I get any better at digital art, then I may turn this page into a portfolio of those designs – but that’s a big if!

However I do plan on keeping this page around, as an archive of sorts. I love looking back at all of the posts as all are special memories for me!

Thank you for taking the time to visit my page, whether it’s your first time visiting or you’ve been a loyal follower!

If you want to reach out to me for any reason, please email me at cleopatracollier@gmail.com or you can still use the Contact form on this site!

Custom LinkedIn Banners

Recently, I decided that my LinkedIn page needed a little makeover!

Originally I had a photo of the Lotus Temple in India as my LinkedIn banner, just because it was a place I’ve seen in person and it made for a pretty background.

But then I decided that I should make a custom banner for my page; it only made sense, as my profile/resume is all about the content I create!

I created my banner with Canva. My goal was to make the banner look similar to a business card. I found an illustration that I felt summed up all of my expertise, as it is a webpage with text, image, and video content on it! I found a background image that reminded me of the world wide web and how the internet can connect everyone together. The background being a world map is also a tribute to my minor.

I was so pleased with how mine turned out that I decided to create one for my brother as well!

And then my little sister, who doesn’t even have a LinkedIn, wanted one too!

Those were my original designs for her, but she complained that they were too kiddish. I’ll admit that I still baby her a little bit!

These are the new designs I created for her – they’re a little more formal (but are still cute too).

If you would like me to create a banner for you, please let me know! I would be happy to make an ideal banner you have in mind a reality for you. No cost for me to do it – tips are welcome, but not required!

Knox Pride

Unfortunately, this year has been mostly uneventful and hasn’t gone the way I expected it to – but I finally have some good news to share!

I am officially a Media Marketing Generalist for Knox Pride!

For those unfamiliar with the organization, it is a nonprofit that plans LGBT+ friendly events in the city. They are known for their annual Pridefest that brings in large crowds each year. My family attended the Pridefest for the first time last year and had a blast!

The rain didn’t take away from the fun!

As the Media Marketing Generalist, my main tasks are to help create social media posts and assist with the other marketing outlets.

Unfortunately the coronavirus has affected Knox Pride’s plans as well. All events have been cancelled for the rest of the year. But we are meeting virtually to plan to for the future and I am happy that I get to be a part of this great organization!

Designs for Andrew Yang

Honestly, I’ve never been too active in politics – but that changed after my brother introduced me to Andrew Yang!

He has over 150 policies on his website, his most popular one being the Freedom Dividend.

My family was so interested in Yang, that we drove to South Carolina to go to one of his events – and hearing him in person made us officially join the “Yang Gang”!

We met our local Yang Gang in December and have been active members ever since.

Content Marketing Certification

Even though I am done with college, I am not done learning! In this field, and probably many others, the learning never stops. Technology, strategies, etc. are ever-changing – especially social media! So in order to keep up with the times, I am doing new certification courses in my free time.

I came across HubSpot and their courses while I was looking for a way to learn more about SEO. I am so happy to have found them and their Academy because they have so many great courses to learn from.

So far, I have taken an SEO course lesson and earned the Content Marketing Certification! And I have plenty more on my to do list – check on my LinkedIn page to keep up!

Notice the expiration date? That’s what I like about this resource, they constantly update their material to keep up with the current trends.

PS: This isn’t a paid post and they are not a sponsor of my blog – I’m just a big fan!

School

Graduation – Class of 2019!

This is my longest blog post and it’s still not even half of what I want to say! But it gets the general point across.

College was such an intense journey for me! I changed majors (and schools) many times. I felt totally lost, scared and uncertain about my future; there were even times when I was certain I wouldn’t graduate. Then, I found the light at the end of the tunnel – a school and major that was a perfect match.

Visual Resume

While this entire blog’s purpose is to serve as a portfolio/resume, I thought it would be beneficial to create a single post that summarizes most of my experience visually.

The type of work I like to pursue is Content Creation, Content Writing, and Social Media Management. Below are some examples of my work that relate to these career paths.

Please be sure to check out the hyperlinks (pink text) in this post for more information about each project!

MTSU Sidelines – Content Creation:

For my job as a designer for the school’s newspaper, I create graphic designs for stories that do not have an image to go along with them. I create these designs with Canva.

Livestream: Holi Festival!

Here is my first livestream video with a 360 camera – it’s a little hard to film and participate in a Holi Festival at the same time, but it actually turned out a lot better than I expected!

*If you’re on your phone, you may have to watch the video directly in the YouTube app to get the full 360 effect.

Holi is a festival in India that celebrates the coming of spring. The holiday traditions include music/dancing, food – and of course, throwing colored powder at each other!

I was excited when I got an email about the event because I have always wanted to go to a Holi festival! The Indian Cultural Exchange group on campus threw the event and did an amazing job.
