As of last night, I am officially a certified professional of the Hootsuite program!

For those unfamiliar with Hootsuite, it is an online resource that makes managing multiple social media accounts at once (like for a business) much easier! It is trusted by many Fortune 500 companies and I am so glad that I’ve been fortunate enough to learn about it – and get certified!
The exam was a bit intimidating because it was timed, so words can’t even explain how happy I was when I saw that I had completed it and passed! I’m eager to utilize all that Hootsuite has to offer for both of the internships I am currently doing – another post about those will be coming soon!

I’ve decided to create an Instagram account that will feature social media content creation that I have made. I’m going to use this account as a portfolio and am also interested to see how people react to them. Overall I believe having this account will help me to better my skills, which I am very eager to do!
Last night I got inspired to create some social media content, after having seen photos of my mother and sister at the Knoxville Women’s March.
Quotes are heavily shared on most social media platforms as appealing images. My goal was to create some content that could easily be shared on many of the different applications.
My mother based her sign off of a quote she found online that said “I wouldn’t change my children for the world, but I wish I could change the world for my children.” However, she changed the language to a better affirmation and made the phrase her own – so I wanted to give her the credit.
The other side of my mother’s sign. Images with this phrase can be found all over the internet, but I was unable to find the original source it came from. I chose to put the Statue of Liberty in the background because it is both a symbol for America and diversity.
My last creation was inspired by my sister’s sign from the march. The princess-y font and the hardcore image of Leia shows contrast, yet comes together perfectly.
And a special shoutout to my friend Haley, for using her expertise to help me out!
A Bollywood movie that was due to release at the beginning of this month, has been delayed because of the continued controversy around the film.
Once word got out that director Sanjay Leela Bhansali was going to reimagine the poem of Padmavati, rumors and speculation began to spread like wildfire – which caused an uproar of chaos.
The beloved ballad tells the story of a Rajput queen, who ultimately sacrifices her life in order to protect the dignity of her kingdom. After her husband’s passing during a battle, she takes over the kingdom and becomes a great warrior – but ends up being defeated by a Muslim invader. In opposition to having to marry her opponent, she decides to complete jauhar instead – which is a form of suicide that involves jumping into a fire. The tale of Padmavati has been praised for generations, because of the bravery she had shown throughout her reign. Continue reading →
At the end of March, Netflix premiered a new series titled “13 Reasons Why” which was inspired by a novel with the same name written by Jay Asher in 2007. Since its release the series has gotten a lot of controversy due to its harsh topics.
“13 Reasons Why” is about a high schooler named Hannah Baker who
Clay Jenson and Hannah Baker. (Dylan Minnette and Katherine Langford)
committed suicide by cutting her wrists and bleeding to death in her bathtub. She didn’t leave behind a note, instead she left behind 13 cassette tapes explaining why she killed herself. Each tape is dedicated to a person that had some sort of involvement in her reason for committing suicide, and she wants each person mentioned on a tape to listen to them all and then give them to the next person mentioned. The series focuses on when Clay Jenson, a crush of Hannah’s, receives the tapes. He is one of the last people mentioned on the tapes, so most of the others mentioned on the tapes have already listened to them and want to prevent Clay from finishing them, out of fear that he will expose them all – for the sake of his lost love.
The show goes back and forth between flashbacks of when Hannah was alive to Clay trying to put the pieces together about her death while listening to the tapes. Scenes referring to when Hannah was alive are shown with a golden tint, and scenes from after her death have a blue tint to them, to help viewers follow along. There are 13 episodes, to go along with the 13 tapes she made. Each episode revolves around a tape and the person who the tape is about.
